At The Therapy Room, I offer therapeutic services for fractures, soft tissue trauma and laceration post-op treatment, tendinopathies, nerve compression syndromes as well as acute and chronic pain management. I also provide manual lymphatic drainage, compression bandaging, cognitive screening and assessments as well as rehabilitation services.
I'm an associate member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association and have completed additional studies in hand therapy and lymphoedema management, so you can rest assured that I'm highly qualified to help you with your specific needs.

Living with lymphoedema can be difficult and uncomfortable, but it doesn't have to be. At The Therapy Room, I provide professional, individualised lymphoedema management services tailored to meet the needs of my clients.
I am experienced in pre and post-surgical measurements and education as well as compression bandaging techniques and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) therapy. I work closely with my clients to develop a personalised treatment plan that best suits their condition and lifestyle, incorporating exercises for strengthening muscles and enhancing lymph flow as well as prescribing appropriate compression garments for optimal management of the condition.
The goal is to reduce swelling and discomfort associated with lymphoedema, improve range of motion and mobility, prevent any complications or potential infections and promote physical and emotional well-being.

Hi there! I'm Tayla Thrupp, the founder of The Therapy Room. As an accredited Occupational Therapist and Associate member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association, I'm proud to offer a wide range of services in Yeppoon. In my ongoing education through the Australian Hand Therapy Association, I'm currently working towards becoming a Certified Hand Therapist. Additionally, I have completed a certificate in Lymphoedema management of the upper limb.

No, but most of my clients have been seen by a Doctor first.
X-rays, imaging reports, notes and referral letters are all helpful. Wear loose upper-body clothing or something suitable for exposing the arm. If the condition is painful, you can take pain medication 15 minutes before your appointment.
Minimum consultation time is 30 minutes; check when booking. Treatment duration depends on your condition and improvements made.
Yes, in nearly all cases. A variable gap will depend on your funds and the services you need. I use Medipass to process claims and payments; bring your fund card. You can always check with your health fund before your consultation.
Medicare does not pay for therapy unless your GP refers you to a “Care Plan.” this will only apply to some individuals; please discuss this with your GP first. There will be a gap fee with a care plan.

Yes, I offer teletherapy or virtual sessions for clients who cannot attend in-person appointments or prefer the convenience of remote therapy. Please discuss this option with me during your consultation.
I prioritise client safety and follow strict hygiene and sanitation protocols. I also adhere to government guidelines and recommendations to minimise any risks of COVID-19 transmission. Additionally, I use personal protective equipment when necessary and maintain a clean and safe therapy environment.

The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your condition, goals and progress. Initially, sessions may be scheduled weekly or biweekly, and as you make progress, the frequency may be reduced to monthly or as needed.
Yes, in addition to private health funds, I also accept other insurance plans such as NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme), TAC (Transport Accident Commission), and DVA (Department of Veterans' Affairs).
